Jan Landua age 84 of Gatesville, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024 in Waco.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2024, at Live Oak Baptist Church, with Rev. Jerry Raines and Rev. Matthew Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to services at the church.
Janeva Ann Landua was born on October 7, 1939, to the late Noble and Talma Anderson Haile. She grew up in the Olin community of Hamilton County. She graduated from Fairy High School in 1957, where she was a cheerleader and basketball player and voted “Class Favorite” her senior year. After graduation, she went on to attend Carver Business College in 1958. She married Billy Earl Landua on September 10, 1960. She worked at Gulf States Telephone Company in Hamilton until moving to Gatesville in 1964. She answered all the calls for Hamilton County Electric Coop, while raising her family. She then went to work for Barnhill’s Department Store and White Elephant Department Store. She later began a career with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as Warden Lucille Plane’s secretary, then for the Windham School District and Woodman State Jail, retiring in 2000. Jan was an expert seamstress, making clothes for her family. Her favorite job was helping raise her five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was a member of Live Oak Baptist Church, where she was a Childrens Sunday School teacher for over 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her children, Waylan Landua and Ronnie Viss; sister, Billie Loree Haile; and brothers, Tom Haile, Jim Haile, John Haile, Bill Haile.
Jan is survived by her husband, Billy Landua; daughter, Cristie Pittman and husband Kurt; daughter-in-love, Susan Landua; grandchildren, Laurri K Shaw, Clayton Landua and wife Stephanie, Ashley Landua and Natalie McCarley, Riley Miller, Linzi Riley and husband, Dustin, Colton Pittman, Emily Viss and great grandchildren, Alexis, Kenzliegh Case, Stella, Kaylor, Justus and Axton.
The family has designated that memorials be directed to the Jan Landua Childrens Ministry Fund, c/o Live Oak Baptist Church, 113 FM 107, Gatesville, TX 76528.
