Jessica Blanchard

Jessica Turner Blanchard, age 68 of Gatesville, passed away on Friday,  February 28, 2025 at her home. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4th at Mountain Baptist Church in Gatesville. Interment will follow at Greenbriar Cemetery. 

Jessica was born on December 10, 1956, in Gatesville to the late Virgil “Dugie” Turner and Betty La Rue Lambert. Jessica loved telling stories of her dad and his love for horse racing and horse breeding. She was smart and enjoyed school. Jessica grew up in the home they still own on Hwy 84 where many stories and memories were made. Jessica and Dwaine married on December 22, 1973, when Jessica was 17 and Dwaine was 20. They lived in town on Park Street while Jessica went to beauty school then briefly cut hair.   

Jessica and Dwaine built their dream home on Greenbriar Road where the family made many fond memories of gatherings, birthdays, riding four wheelers, horses, and pickups and Christmas celebrations. Their son Landon was born in June of 1984, and he is their biggest accomplishment. Jessica deeply loved her grandchildren, Brooke and Cash, and made every one of their events and showed up for every birthday. Jessica poured herself into her children and grandchildren every day and had a heart of gold. She could see the good in everyone and made a lasting impression on all of her friends, family, and coworkers. Jessica was a Sunday School teacher and worked in childcare for a time, making the lives of others better with her deep love and affection for children. Jessica loved horse races, the beach, shopping and church outings.  

Jessica is preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Betty Turner.  

She is survived by her husband, Dwaine; son, Landon Blanchard and wife Tami; grandchildren, Brooke and Cash Blanchard; sister, Sherazan Brock and husband, Henry; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved her dearly.
