Jo Marie Pope

Jo Marie Pope age 77 of Gatesville, passed away, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Daniel Crowther officiating.  Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.  Interment will be at Flint Creek Cemetery.

Jo was born on July 20, 1941 in the Seattle community, now part of Ft. Hood.  She was the daughter of the late Joe Washington (Watt) and Undine Faucett Palmer.  She grew up in the Flat community and graduated from Flat High School.  She married Tommy Pope on April 15, 1960. She was a beauty operator for 53 years at Don’s Beauty Shop, Mar-Jo’s and Kut-N-Kurl Beauty Shop.  She was a member of Cold Springs Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Vinnie Murl Blanchard, Edith Blanchard and Kathleen Blanchard.

She is survived by her husband of  59 years, Tommy Pope; daughter, Lori Latham and husband, Kyle; son, Brent Pope; sister, Joyce White and husband, Charles; three grandchildren, Tyler Latham and fiance', Shelby Cannon, Sarah Latham, Brensyn Pope; and several nieces and nephews.
