Joan Margie Adkins

Joan Havelka Adkins, of Gatesville, Texas, passed away on December 28, 2024, at the age of 76.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Theon, Texas

Joan was born on May 3, 1948, to Ed Havelka, Sr. and Margie Palousek Havelka in Robstown, Texas. She was the beloved wife and best friend of Howard Adkins for 44 years and together they had two children, Margie Cameron Adkins and Stephanie Diane Smith. Joan was the oldest of five siblings. She grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas with her sisters, Sharon Albert of Pennsylvania and Denise Sellers of Lago Vista, Texas and her two brothers, Randy Havelka Sr of Hutto and Ed Havelka Jr. of Pearland.

Joan was known for her quick wit, infectious laughter, and love of cooking. She loved to read, watch her Cowboys play, and was a lifetime Longhorn fan. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on through the warm smiles and sweet treats she shared with her loved ones. 

Joan is preceded in death by her parents; her mother-in law, Grandis Lenken; brother, Randy Havelka, Sr., and daughter, Margie Cameron Adkins.  Joan leaves behind granddaughters Kaitlyn Danielle Buendia of San Antonio, Maegan Marie Adkins; two great-grandsons, Joseph Michael Rodriguez and William James Smith of Texas; great granddaughter Olivia; daughter, caregiver and best friend, Tereseanna Cook, and husband, Tom; grandchildren, Christopher Rash and Michelle Cook; and great grandchildren Levi Wilson, Remi Sue Davis and Thomas Davis.
