Joan Shoaf, age 87 of the King community, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021 in Waco.
Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, April 1, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at King Baptist Church, with private family graveside services to follow at King Cemetery, with Rev. Charles McKamie officiating.
Joan was born on August 8, 1933 in Sewickley, PA, to the late William and Lorna Baumgartel. She grew up in Pennsylvania. She worked at a drug store in El Paso, where she met Bob Shoaf. They were married soon after, on April 29, 1950 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. After their marriage, they moved to Coryell County, where they resided in the King community most of their married lives. She worked at Leaird’s Furniture, Dr. Oley Beard Chiropractic and at Wall’s Manufacturing. She enjoyed playing Bingo with her granddaughters or anyone that was willing to take her. She was a member of King Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 70 plus years, Bob Shoaf; sons, Robbie Shoaf and wife, Becky, Ray Shoaf and wife, Tammi, Ricky Shoaf; eight grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family has designated memorials be made to King Baptist Church, c/o 601 CR 135, Gatesville, TX 76528.
