Joe Allen Miller

Joe Allen Miller, 78, of Gatesville passed away Thursday, June 2, 2022. He was born September 16, 1943 in Odem, Texas to Sally Kate Rolls Miller and Lester “Boots” Miller. The youngest of 4, he graduated from Odem High School in 1961. In June 1962, he married Joyce Smith. Joe served his country in the United States Air Force, serving a tour in Vietnam. After 8-1/2 years of service, he and Joyce settled near their hometown to raise their family.

Joe was a devoted family man. He coached girls’ softball, was an avid outdoors enthusiast and was community minded. He was active in Ducks Unlimited, starting a chapter in Clinton, Oklahoma. He retired from One OK after 30 years before returning to Texas.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lester E. Miller; and sister, Billie Jean Miller.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; son and daughter-in-law, Calvin and Carolyn Miller; daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Sonny Oliver; grandchildren, Jeff Davis, Amanda Webb and husband, Matt, Garrett Smith and wife, Kayleigh, Courtney Bennett and husband, Jeremy; and 3 great grandchildren.
