Joe David Watson

Joe David Watson, age 66 of Gatesville, passed away on the morning of January 12, 2021 in Temple. A memorial service may be held at a later date.

Joe was born on October 24, 1954 in Haskell, TX to the late Wallace D. “Polly” Watson and Lela Mae Henager. Joe grew up in the Gatesville area, graduating from Gatesville High School in 1973. Joe served a brief time in the U.S. Marines. He met the love of his life Helen Herring in 1981. They were married on Feb. 19, 1982. Before retiring Joe spent most of his spare time hanging out at J&M’s BBQ making tea, running errands and visiting with his buddies. Joe was a drummer and played many years for “Tilly & The Boys”.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and mother-in-law, Helen Herring.

Joe is survived by his wife of 38 years, Helen Watson; brothers, Sammy Watson and wife, Doris, Gene Watson and wife, Lorraine and Wally Watson and wife, Marsha; sister-in-law’s, Lisa Burgan and Jackie Patterson; numerous nephews, nieces and “adopted” nieces and nephews.
