John Brown

John Brown, age 66, of Gatesville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 12, 2023. 

Private family graveside services were held at Evergreen-Bundrant Cemetery in Purmela.

John David Brown was born on February 9, 1955, in Gatesville, to Lloyd and Elizabeth Adams Brown.  He grew up in Gatesville, attending school and later going to work for the State School for Boys.  He also worked for a family-owned water drilling company, Adams and Adams Well Drilling, as well as being heavily involved in his own farming and ranching operations.  John was a single dad and took pride in raising his four children, sometimes even allowing them to go to his different jobs with him.  He loved being outside and was an avid arrowhead enthusiast.   He had a passion for reading books, was a John Wayne Fan, and enjoyed stargazing with his children, often teaching them about the many different stars.

John was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Brown Sr., and sister, Melissa Brown.

He is survived by his children, Anita Brown and her husband, Rebecca Mason and husband Michael, Melissa Arnold, John Brown; mother, Elizabeth Adams Brown; brothers, James Brown, and Lloyd Brown Jr.; sister, Elizabeth Daniel; and eleven grandchildren.
