John Mark Featherston, age 76, of Gatesville passed away on February 8, 2025, peacefully at his home surrounded by family. He fought a short but hard fight with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12 at Scott’s Funeral Home with Ray Featherston officiating. Interment will follow at Ballard Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at Scott’s Funeral Home one hour prior to the service.
John Featherston was born on June 6, 1948, to the late Robert and Estelle Featherston. He was the sixth of nine children. John enjoyed fishing, bow hunting, arrowhead hunting, playing video games with his friends, and spending time with his kids and grandkids. John was a Christian and took his faith in the Lord very seriously. He became a Christian and was baptized at a very early age at Mountain Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and trusted Him to the fullest.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Estelle Featherston; sisters, Bettie Hooker and Catherine Smith; and brother, JW (Scoopy) Featherston.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Karon Featherston; daughters, Kristi Hawkins and husband, Scotty, Lori High and husband, Chris; son, Mark Featherston and wife, Anamelia; grandchildren, Colton Hawkins, Reese Hawkins, Maysea Edmond, Preslea Edmond, Cameron High and Michaela High; great grandchildren, Blayze Laidley, Braelynn Kruse, Piper Sheets, and Georgia Hawkins; brothers, Ray Featherston and wife, Sandy, Leslie Featherston and wife, Linda; sisters, Nancy Thompson, Martha James and Ruby Barnard; and a host of nieces, nephews and good friends. He is also survived by his best friend Tootie, his loyal companion for 16 years.
