Johnie Snoddy, age 73 of the Slater community, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Levita Cemetery.
Johnie was born on October 26, 1946 in Speegleville, Texas to the late John and Minnie Mae Bullard Snoddy. He grew up in Levita and Gatesville. At the age of 19 in 1965, he entered the U. S. Marine Corps and served two tours of duty in Vietnam until being honorably discharged in 1968. He married Ruth Sutton on June 7, 1972 in Grand Prairie. He was self-employed as a truck driver and owner with his son of J&S Trucking.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John Shipman; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jonathan Nagle; infant sister, Caroline Snoddy; brother, Roger Snoddy; and brother-in-law, Weldon Meeks.
Johnie is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ruth Snoddy; son, Steve Snoddy and wife, Jennifer; daughter, Crystal Nagle; sisters, Mary Meeks, Christine Patterson; brothers, Roy Snoddy and wife, Shirley, Sam Snoddy and wife, Gloria; four grandchildren, Michael Nagle, Rebecca Nagle, Jacob Snoddy and Urijah Zaragoza; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
