Johnnie Moore, age 73 of Weatherford, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2024.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Palo Pinto County Cowboy Church in Santo, Texas, with Pastor Roger Keck officiating.
Johnnie Lee Moore was born on August 26, 1950, to the late William “Buddy” Moore and Rosa Lee Sims Moore in Gatesville, Texas. He spent the first part of his life in Gatesville and attended the local schools. In 1968 Johnnie enlisted in the US Marine Corps and spent time at Paris Island and San Diego. In 1989, he married Sheila Young Moore, and they made their home in Weatherford, Texas where they resided until his death.
Johnnie spent most of his adult life making music and working in the construction industry, two things that he absolutely loved but he loved his family even more. In 1994, he decided that playing music was infringing on his family time and hung up his bass strap. Johnnie’s construction work took him all over the United States and his family would join him during school holidays. Johnnie’s love for his family was legendary. When anyone had a problem, Johnnie was usually their first call. During his later years, Johnnie loved spending time and working on his river cabin in Eastland.
Johnnie was a proud member of Palo Pinto County Cowboy Church and accepted the Lord as his savior on August 5, 2018. At PPCCC, he served as part of the media team, spending many hours mixing and remixing the weekly worship and praise service.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents and brother Duane Moore. He is survived by his wife, Sheila of 35 years, son Charles Moore and wife Rose, daughter Angela Ashby and husband Chris, sons Steven Harper and Billy Moore, son Chris Harper and wife Jodi, daughter Shauna Moore and brother Ronnie Moore and wife Elaine and sister Peggy Griffith. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and even a few great grandchildren.
