Joy Valenca

Joy Valenca, age 79 of Gatesville passed away Sunday, January 26, 2025.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 10, 2025 at Scott’s Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery. 

Joy Valenca was born on July 15, 1945 in Oregon. She grew and attended school in San Diego, California. She married Robert Allen Valenca on August 12, 1967 in San Diego, where they made their home. During the 1960s, Joy was crowned Miss San Diego. Her life revolved around her children and grandchildren. She was also a collector of many things. 

Joy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and grandsons, Isaac Bueno, and Cameron Valenca.

She is survived by her children, Rob Valenca and wife, Donna; Kara Valenca-Yocom; grandchildren, Devin and Shelbi Valenca, Bethany Hurtado, Christopher Bueno, Hannah Bueno, Matthew Yocom, Aaron Yocom, and Kaitlyn Yocom; great granddaughter, Laura Hurtado and soon to be great grandson, due in April 2025.
