Judy Kay Young, a devout Christian, beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend to so many, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2025 at the age of 75 in her cherished home in Pancake Texas, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Scott’s Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Dossey officiating. Interment will follow at Wood Cemetery near Jonesboro. The family will welcome visitors one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Born in Camp Hood, in Bell County on September 2, 1949, Judy Kay went to Jonesboro High School and loved playing sports for the Eagles and spent most of her career as the world’s smallest correctional officer working for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Later in life she reconnected with her high school sweetheart David Young and together they have cherished over 33 years of marriage. Judy was an incredibly kind, generous and selfless person, known for having a vast number of hobbies, most of which were making things for her friends and family. However, her dearest love was her grandkids and horses.
Judy was preceded in death by her mother Julia Mae Wicker, father Barney Lee Ray and son Michael Lee Clemons.
She leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, constant laughter, and unyielding strength. She is survived by her husband, David Young; sisters, Gail Robles and husband, Joe, Janice Sheffield and husband, J.D., and Beverly Carpenter; brothers, Delvin King and wife, Martha, and Charles Ray; children, Scott Clemons and wife, Sara, Kevin Young and wife, Sara, Lori Anderson and husband, Anthony, and Chris Clemons and wife, Terri; grandchildren, Trace, Toby, Tyler, Wyatt, Garrett, Kai, Raylen, Hudson, Mikan, Christian and Gage; and her great granddaughter Reyna.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Wood Cemetery, care of Melinda Burke, 430 Old Georgetown Rd, Gatesville, Texas 76528, or to the Texas 4-H Youth Development Foundation in Judy Young's memory: https://texas4hfoundation.org/ways-to-give.
