Julia Mae Wicker, age 97 of Gatesville, was called home on the morning of February 1, 2022.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Sunday, February 6, 2022 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with Bro Lynn Turnbow officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family will hold a private burial at Ater Cemetery.
Julia was born in Coryell County, Texas to the late Jess S. Snider and Gertrude Lorene Manos Snider. She grew up and attended school in Jonesboro and Ireland and graduated from Ireland with the class of 1941. Julia cooked at the Texas Youth Council and later became a secretary aid where she continued to work until she retired in 1975. She liked to play games of dominoes, especially 84. Julia also loved crafts such as painting and sewing. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Gatesville.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, Barney Lee Ray and later in life married Jack Wicker who also preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her grandson Michael Lee Clemons. Julia also was preceded in death by her 2 sisters and 5 brothers.
Julia is survived by her son, Delvin King and wife, Martha King; daughters, Judy Young and husband, David Young, Gail Robles and husband, Joe Robles, Janice Sheffield and husband, Dr. J.D. Sheffield; 11 Grandchildren, 20 Great-Grandchildren, 11 Great-Great-Grandchildren and by her brother; J H Snider and wife, Danny Snider; also many nieces and nephews.
