Kirk R. Jones, age 86 of Gatesville, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, November 20, 2021.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Don McConnaughhay officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow services at Restland Cemetery.

Kirk was born on July 11, 1935 in Rowena, Texas to the late Curtis and Irene Ringle Jones.  He grew up in Pyote and Monahans, graduating from Monahans High School.  He attended Texas Western College and the University of Texas in El Paso, where he received several degrees in physics, education, management and testing, as well as counseling.  He was awarded an honorary doctorate degree from El Paso Community College for his assistance in receiving their accreditation.  He entered the US Air Force in 1957, serving four years and was honorably discharged in 1961 as an Airman First Class.  He then went to work for the Department of Defense for 35 years, gaining the rank of Senior Scientific Advisor.  Along with working, he enjoyed teaching classes at Central Texas College.

Kirk married Anita June Norman on January 1, 1983.  He enjoyed hunting, spending time outdoors, watching westerns, listening to classic country music and playing dominoes.  He delighted in taking long walks on his ranch and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter-in-law, Mary A. Jones.

Kirk is survived by his wife of 39 years, Anita June Jones; children, Kevan Jones and wife, Kathy, Keith Jones, Phyllis Wise and husband, Mark, Pam Jones, Penny Jones, Jennifer Kelley and husband, Andrew; and two step-sons.  He immensely loved all his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Pidcoke Baptist Church, 11125 FM 116, Gatesville, TX 76528.
