LaVeda Littlefield, age 92, of Copperas Cove passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 in Temple. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville with burial following at Hillsdale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6 PM Friday at the funeral home. LaVeda was born on February 15, 1927 to the late George and Nita Mayfield Adamson in south east Coryell County. As a young girl, growing up in the depression she learned to sew, cook, and quilt with her mother and worked alongside of her brothers in the fields. LaVeda attended school in Harman, Pidcoke, and Ms Jacksons Business School in Lampasas. After business school, she owned a small grocery store on Key Ave in Lampasas before marring J.B. Littlefield on November 4, 1950. They moved to his small ranch in the Harman community where she enjoyed helping her husband on the ranch. They enjoyed 64 years together entertaining friends on Friday night with dominoes tournaments, traveling with friends. LaVeda retired from Civil Service after 20 years working for DPW Housing Office helping many young soldiers find a place to live around the Fort Hood area. She was a Christian and served the Lord at Midway Church of Christ. She also served as a director for Coryell County Farm Bureau for many years. She was preceded in death by husband, J.B.; two brothers, Ernest (Red) Adamson, Dean Adamson, and a son-in-law, Kent Bell. LaVeda is survived by her sons, Raymond Littlefield and wife, Debbie of Palestine, Richard Littlefield and wife, Christine of Copperas Cove; daughter, Janice Bell of Temple; five grandchildren, Bradley Bell, Jennifer Garza, Michael Littlefield, Jay Littlefield, and Darla Balas; and three great-grandchildren, Matthew Littlefield, Marissa Littlefield and Ava Littlefield.
