Lee Michael Nase

Mike Nase, age 71, passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at his home in Gatesville. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date in Houston. Mike was born in Hall County on March 10, 1947 to Billie Risinger and Baker B. Nase. When his father passed away at a young age he and his mother moved to El Cajon, Californian where he spent his early years before moving back to Amarillo, Texas at the age of 16. Mike began playing the mandolin at the age of three and moved on to the guitar. Mike was a world class guitarist and a big part of the jazz scene in Houston for more than 30 years. He and his wife Susan moved to Gatesville in the mid 1990’s to help care for family. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Baker B. Nase; and his step-father, Jimmy Pierce. He survived by his wife, Susan Nase; mother, Billie Pearce; children, Baker Nase, Brennen Nase, Shannon Nase, Brad Allison, Amy Escamilla and husband, Marlo; 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
