Leon Lofland

Leon Lofland, age 94 of Gatesville, passed away on January 11, 2025. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, at Davidson Cemetery with Lynn Barnett officiating. The family will receive visitors at Scott’s Funeral Home on Thursday, January 16, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Leon was born on May 24, 1930, to the late Russell and Myrtle Bird Lofland. Leon married Mary Jane Moore in 1951, and they raised three children. After the passing of Mary Jane in 2001, Leon married Anita Lofland. Leon worked for the Texas Youth Commission and the Texas Criminal Justice Department and retired after 27 years of service. Leon loved to fish, tinker around the shop, and tell a good story. 

Leon is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Jane; son, Ambrose (Amby) Lofland; brothers, Roy Lofland and Norman Lofland; and sister, Bonnie Brown. 

He is survived by his wife, Anita Lofland; children, Chad Lofland of Temple and Christy Ruff of Dekalb; stepchildren, Ronnie Lofland, Ronda Hall and Jason Lofland; seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and numerous step grandchildren.
