Linda Marie Hayes

Linda Marie Hayes, age 62 of Gatesville, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.  

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville with Pastor Stephen Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery. Linda’s family will receive visitors at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Linda was born on April 15, 1961, to Vern and Patricia Berridge in Germany.  She grew up in Killeen, Texas and graduated from Ellison High School in 1980. Linda worked for 25 years at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a correctional officer. During this time, she also taught Drivers Education to many of the teenagers in the Gatesville area. After she retired, she delivered mail for the United States Post Office. 

Linda enjoyed reading and watching her television shows. She loved the color pink. Linda will be remembered by many for the unique ways in which she taught teenagers to drive and the love she had for her family. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Verne Berridge, Jr.; and son, Phillip Hayes.

Linda is survived by her husband, Roy Hayes; sons, Brent Berridge and Mark Hayes; daughter, Devin Hayes Shelton; brothers, John Berridge, Ken Berridge, Steve Berridge, and Bruce Berridge; sister, Judy Luna; grandchildren, Hannah Berridge, Aiden Berridge, Logan Shelton, Felicia Baker, Wyatt Hayes, Grace Hayes, Hannah Hayes, Emory Hayes; and four great grandchildren.
