Lydia Yvonne Sims

Lydia Yvonne Sims of Gatesville passed away Sunday, October 20, 2024, at the age of 88. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, in the Chapel of Scott’s Funeral Home with Seth Flowers officiating. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service in the chapel. Interment will follow in Restland Cemetery. 

Yvonne was born August 26, 1936, in Coryell County, Texas, the daughter of the late Joseph Alexander and Rhoda Emma (Pruitt) Tubbs. In 1953 she graduated from Gatesville High School. On November 28, 1953, she married Milford Watt Sims in Gatesville, Texas. After 62 years of marriage, he preceded her in death, April 29, 2016. After their marriage they moved to Fort Stockton where they lived for forty-four years. After they retired, they returned home to Gatesville in 2004. 

Much of her life was spent as a bookkeeper for several doctors in Fort Stockton. She she was an excellent seamstress who enjoyed creating things for those she loved. She was also an avid gardener. Yvonne and Milford spent their time together playing golf and traveling. She was a loving and devoted Mema to her three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include a daughter Susan Thomas and husband, Richard; three grandchildren, Shaylyn Burnham and husband Jesse, Shelby Flowers and husband Seth, and James George and wife Sunny; eight great grandchildren, Sydney Burnham, Karter Burnham, Bayley Burnham, Tyler George, Taylor Flowers, Channing George, Vance Burnham and Porter George.
