Margaret Lofton

Margaret F. Lofton age 85 of Gatesville, passed away on the evening of October 23, 2021 surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel in Gatesville. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Inurnment and memorial services will be held at a later date in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Margaret was born on September 7, 1936 in Malaga, New Mexico to the late Roland and Faye Cassels Goff. She grew up and attended school in Loving, New Mexico, where she also raised her four children. She was a school bus driver for many years and was loved by many.  Her hobbies included bowling, sewing, crocheting and traveling.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed her many cruises with her best friend, Janet Howell.  She was a self-taught pianist and organist, playing every Sunday for many years at Loving Baptist Church, where she remained a member.  Margaret loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren immensely.  Her smile was infectious and her stories were filled with the love of family, work and friendships. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Faye Goff Cassels, Roland Goff; son, Paul Owen Lofton, Jr.; brothers, Rodney Goff, James Goff, Jerry Cassels, Harold Cassels, Rusty Cassels, Scott Cassels; sisters, Nellie Kirkes, Sue Cassels; niece, Becky Kirkes; and nephews, Mike Kirkes and Jimmy Cassels.

Margaret is survived by her children, Pauletta Godfrey, Betty Lofton, Jimmy Lofton and wife, Shellee; grandchildren, Kellie McNeal and husband, David, Pamela Munro and husband, Kelly, Crystal Cooper and husband, Cody, Josh Godfrey and wife, Courtnie, Michael Paul Lofton, Samantha Brown and husband, Sean, Christine Woodall and husband, Kyle, Lauran Musick and husband, Chance, Kora Lofton and Leslie Lofton; and many great and great-great grandchildren.
