Marshall Long, age 68 of Gatesville, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2019, in Waco, TX. Memorial services will be held Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 2 PM at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Marshall was born on February 11, 1951 in Gatesville, to the late Troy and Mary Long. He graduated from Gatesville High School in 1969. After graduation Marshall became a man of many vocations. He was a Disc Jockey at KCLW Gatesville, KRLD Dallas, TX, KOMA in Oklahoma and XRLD in Del Rio, TX, as “Mark Christopher” and “Shaun McKay”. He also worked for the Texas State School for Boys, while farming on the side. Marshall was a Pastor at the original Liberty Baptist Church near Mosheim, as well as Stiles Baptist Church in Stiles, TX. He managed Perry Brothers in both Gatesville Colorado City and Crosbyton, Texas where he also managed a Winn’s. Marshall was also in the oil industry, working for Treatalite Chemical. He ran a very successful Schwans route in West Texas. Marshall worked for a corrections facility in Dickens, TX and returned to Gatesville to work with the Coryell County Sheriff Department in the jail. Later in life Marshall moved to Round Rock where he began working with Texas Department of Transportation Security, where he retired. He is survived by his wife, Cathy Long; sister, Bessie Roach and husband, Roy; son, Tracy Long and wife, Sarah; daughters, Charitie Wagner and husband, Pete, LaJean Muegge and husband, Tim; step-son, Jimmy Zumwalt and wife, Lindsay; grandchildren, Casidy Waddell, Troy Long, Ashley DelGado, Christopher Turner, Andrew Long, Jastin Muegge, Jayde Muegge and Elijah Long.
