Mary Evelyn Karasek, age 75, of Evant passed away Sunday, November 20, 2022. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 1:00 pm in the Scott’s Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow at Knox Cemetery in Lampasas County, located between Evant and Adamsville.
Evelyn was born August 11, 1947 in Lampasas to the late Gerry Drew “Doc” Blackwell and Belle Huckaby Blackwell. She married Gene Karasek in Hamilton, TX on January 11, 1962. They were blessed with two children. Mary worked at TDCJ for 20 years, eventually retiring. She loved to dance, make jewelry and go fishing. She was a fantastic cook and made the best fried chicken and potato salad.
Evelyn's greatest love was her family. She cherished every moment spent with them and will be deeply missed by her beloved husband, Gene Karasek of Evant, TX; daughter and husband, Denice and David Bates of Ireland, TX; son and wife, Rodney and Tracey Karasek of Ireland, TX; grandsons, Brandon Freeman of Gatesville, Dusty Freeman and wife, Amber of Evant, Dalton Humphrey of Houston, Bearen and wife, Courtney Bates of Huntsville, and Baylen Bates of Huntsville; granddaughters, Mallory Karasek of San Antonio and Megan Littlefield and husband, Jay of Belton; 9 great grandchildren; and many other loving family members.
