Mary Lee Tickell was born on July 10, 1948 in Gatesville, to the late Melvin A. and Irma Lee Hoppe Spross.  She grew up in McGregor and graduated from Lorena High School in 1966. She married Lloyd Tickell on May 3, 1974.  She worked for many years in the cafeteria for the Gatesville I.S.D. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness Church in Gatesville.

Mary was a beloved sister, mother, grandma, great-grandma, mother-in-law and friend.  She wore many hats and excelled in all of them.  She had the hands of a working woman, as there were not many things she couldn’t do; from plumbing, car repairs or crawling on the roof to repair a leak.  Throughout her whole life, she wasn’t intrigued with material things.  She loved her family, music and found joy in taking care of others.  She was extremely proud of Sheila, Tammy and all of her grandchildren. She never met a stranger and loved to sit around and tell stories about her childhood and family. To know Mary was to love her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Elizabeth Anne Spross.

Mary is survived by her husband, Lloyd Tickell; daughters, Sheila Rowe and husband, Brian, Tammy Wright and husband, Jerry; sisters, Linda Deger and husband, Rocky, Melva Spross; brothers, James Spross and wife, Barbara, Mike Spross; six grandchildren, Jordy Haigood and husband, Clay, Bailee Rowe, Jarred Rowe and wife, Brytin, Jace Wright, Courtney Rowe, Kattie Rowe; five great grandchildren, Hayes, Carter, Harper, Julius and Cora.
