Melba Kay Ellisor

Melba Ellisor, age 75 of Gatesville went to be with Jesus on Friday, March 7, 2025.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Scott’s Funeral Home with Dr. Eric Moffett officiating.  The family will welcome visitors one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  

Melba Kay Ellisor was born on May 23, 1949 to the late Melburn and Lottie McCarley Ground in Dallas, Texas. She grew up and attended school in Dallas, later moving to Houston. She married Randy Ellisor and together they made their home in Houston, where they welcomed their only child, Wally. In 1990, Melba moved to Gatesville to be closer to her immediate family. She went to work for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a Correctional Officer in 1991 and served in that capacity for the next 20 years, retiring in 2011. In her retirement, she loved spending time with her family and her granddaughter. She also enjoyed shopping and vacationing with her sister, Martha. She was a woman of faith and regularly attended services at Coryell Community Church.

Melba was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Charles Ground. She is survived by her son, Wally Ellisor; sister, Martha Gordon; granddaughter, Gwen Ellisor; nieces, Teri McKay and Sheri Robinson; and nephew, Chuck Gordon; and a host of friends.
