Melvin Wright

Melvin Wright, age 82 of Gatesville, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2024.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Gateway Baptist Church in Gatesville with Brother Michael Bragdon officiating. 

Melvin was born on April 6, 1942 to the late Terry and Mary Harrington Wright in Eagle Lake, Texas. He grew up and attended school in Eagle Lake, graduating from Eagle Lake High School in 1960. He attended college obtaining his bachelor’s degree in nursing and later continued his education obtaining his Family Nurse Practitioner license in 1979. He retired from UTMB in 2018. 

Melvin met Gloria Nell McMinn in late 1975, and after a five-month courtship, they were married on March 27, 1976 in Palestine, Texas.

Those who knew Melvin, knew him as a man of Faith. His passion and love revolved around his wife, children, and grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John Wright; and brothers, Curtis Wright, Gary Wright, and Robert Wright. 

Melvin is survived by his wife, Gloria; children, Kevin Wright, Shannon Frantz, Shelley Wright, and Lyle Wright; twelve grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one brother; one sister; and numerous nieces and nephews.
