Michael Paul Blanchard, age 63, of Lorena, Texas, passed away February 6, 2019 surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville, Texas with Pastor Charles McKamie officiating. Interment will follow at Greenbriar Cemetery. The family will receive visitors prior to service from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. at funeral home. Mike was born in Gatesville, Texas on October 6, 1955 to William Earl Blanchard and Lena Wynell (Nell) Faubion Blanchard. He graduated from Gatesville High School in 1974 and managed a local Conoco station during that time. He was known as a jack of all trades and a meticulous organizer and automotive mechanic. He installed antennas for his father. He worked at DataPoint Corporation, Trane, and Motorola, where he soldered electrical components. He also worked at Lacks Furniture as a delivery driver and warehouse attendant. Mike spent several years in land surveying, locally and in East Texas. He was an avid fan of rock and roll music from the sixties and early seventies. He had an impressive collection of record albums and 45s. He sported a collection of over 90 pairs of sunglasses. He was known for his quick wit, verbal blunders and tender heart. He loved to spend time with his grandkids, great nieces and nephews and he adored his beautiful daughters. Mike was preceded in death by his father, William Earl Blanchard; daughter, Shawna Denise Blanchard; step-father, Vincent Pilgrim; paternal grandparents, William Roland and Edda Mae Blanchard; maternal grandparents, Samuel Henry and Mattie Olean Faubion; and nephew-in-law, James Willie Register. Mike is survived by his mother, Nell Blanchard of Lorena, Texas; daughter, Amber Nichole Blanchard; grandchildren, Dasia Michelle, Dylan James and Danielle Nichole Lloyd, all of Memphis, Tennessee; step-mother, Linda Blanchard; siblings, Kimberly Haines and husband, Mark; Tammi Shoaf and husband, Ray; Tom Blanchard and wife, Tammy, all of Gatesville; Tim Blanchard and wife Sheri, of Universal City; and Tammy Harwood of San Antonio; many special nieces, nephews and their families; aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He will also be missed by his beloved doggies, BO and Bela Lugosi. Ephesians 6:11-13
