Myra Sue Nichols

Myra Nichols, age 86 of Pancake, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, September 20, 2024. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Scott’s Funeral Home, with Pastor Matt Dossey officiating. Her family will receive visitors from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the Funeral Home.

Myra Sue Watson Nichols was born on January 15, 1938 to the late Andrew and Florene Schwalbe Watson on the family farm at Pancake, Texas. She graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1956 and then attended Tarleton State University for one year. She married the love of her life, R.D. Nichols on November 22, 1958 and they moved to Odessa for several years before coming back to the Pancake Community to help with the family farm, bringing their two sons, Todd and Andy with them. Myra went to work for Deck Boat Manufacturing in Gatesville and worked there until her retirement. After her father passed away, she took care of her mother until her passing. 

Myra served on the Jonesboro Cemetery Association as their secretary for many years. She also attended Jonesboro Baptist Church where she taught children’s Sunday school. She enjoyed canning items from her garden and cooking for her family. She was an avid quilter and made numerous quilts for her children and grandchildren. 

Myra was preceded in death by her parents; husband, R.D. Nichols; brothers in law, Jimmy Reid, Wesley Nichols and Jack Nichols.

She is survived by her sons, Todd Nichols and wife, Donna, and Andy Nichols; sisters, Marsha Reid, and Sandy Newsom and husband, Neil; sisters in law, Lettie Robinett, and Doris Nichols; five grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; and bonus daughter, Joyce Pruitt.
