Nelda A. Karnes

Nelda Ailene Karnes, age 95, of Gatesville passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2022. Graveside services will be held Monday, November 21 at 1pm at Hurst Ranch Cemetery, located in Hamilton County, between Evant and Star.

Nelda was born in Star, Texas on November 22, 1926 to Louis Stephen and Edna Brownie (Mason) Karnes. She grew up and attended school in Star. For nearly 35 years she worked for Burlington Santa Fe Railroad which enabled her to enjoy living in many different cities in Texas. Nelda loved her job and enjoyed working. In her down time, she liked to work puzzles.

Nelda was preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Brownie and 8 of her 9 siblings.

She is survived by her brother, James Douglas Karnes of Hewitt, TX; numerous nieces and nephews; and the many friends she made over the years.
