Patsy Ray

Patsy Ray, age 83, of Ater, Texas, passed away Monday, August 6, 2018.  Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Scott’s Funeral Home with Rev. A.C. Painter officiating.  Burial will follow at Ater Cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.Patsy was born on January 30, 1935 in Houston County, Texas to Joe Wilson Vaden and Lillie “Sis” Brown Vaden.  She attended school in Jonesboro before marrying R.B. Ray in 1952 in Levita, Texas.  She attended the LVN program at Coryell Memorial Hospital, and worked at local nursing homes, retiring in 2012.  She loved playing with her grandchildren, country living including gardening, especially growing yellow roses and irises, canning, painting, raising chickens, and helping her late husband with farming and ranching.  She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, R.B. Ray; and sister, Marilyn Bagwell.Patsy is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Morgan and husband, Russell; son, Don Ray and wife, Theda; grandchildren, Melinda Dossey, Donny Ray, Jody Ray, Amanda Reifler, Sandra Sanders; great-grandchildren, Erica Guardiola Bermudez, Megan Horton, Veronica Dossey, Tommy Heneger, Rylan Laminack, Braylan Laminak, Zane Ray, Kenzley Ray, Sara McDonald, Jeep Sanders, Gage Sanders, Skyelar Sanders, Dutch Reifler, Emily Reifler, and Jessica Key; great-great-grandchildren, AddiRose Laminack and Alexander Bermudez; and nephew, Charles Scott Johnson.Memorials may be made to the Gatesville Care Center, 105 N. 7th Street, Gatesville, TX 76528.
