Patty Sue Herndon

Patty Herndon passed away October 26, 2024, in Temple, Texas. Private memorial services will be held at the Central Texas Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

Patty Sue (Nanny) Herndon was born November 11, 1949, in Connersville, Indiana. She was a single mother to daughter, Michele, until meeting her husband, William (Bill) Herndon. They married in March of 1974. The Army moved her and her family to Texas in 1976. She lived in both Copperas Cove and Gatesville.

Patty was very loyal to her family. She served as primary caretaker to her husband’s disabled twin brother who lived with them. She was a very loving mother to her daughter and a very dedicated wife to Bill. She was extremely proud to be the wife of a firefighter. She and her daughter started attending church in 1985. It was then that they both accepted the Lord as Savior. She loved attending church services in Copperas Cove, Nolanville and Gatesville. Her and her family even travelled to Louisiana for a Jimmy Swaggart camp meeting. She enjoyed family trips to the lake, Six Flags, baseball games, having family cookouts, even travelling to the Statue of Liberty. Her granddaughter was born in 1991, and she was overjoyed to be a “nanny”. She welcomed her grandson in 1996. She loved playing with the grandbabies, taking them to the park, spoiling them with toys, and watching Disney movies together. She was always so full of energy.

She was preceded in death by her dad, Delores Hunt Garrison; mother, Carol Maxine Glisson Garrison; brother, Walter Gene Garrison; brother, Rick Garrison; brother, Gary Garrison; husband, William (Bill) Herndon; twin sister, Penny Blain; sister, Polly White; and niece Sherry Hall.

Patty is survived by her only child, Michele Hamil, and husband Jerry; granddaughter, Leneighah David; grandson, Jaron Hamil; great grandchildren, Cia and Shadow; brother-in-law, Bruce Blain; and nieces, Terri and Carol.

Because she made such a big impact on the lives of her family, her presence will be greatly missed! We love and miss you Mom (Nanny)!
