Peggy Ruth Millsap Shelton

Peggy Shelton, age 78, of Gatesville, sweetly and gently entered the land that is fairer than day on Sunday, July 8, 2018.  Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Scott’s Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the funeral home. Peggy was born on April 6, 1940 in Mound, Texas to Joe Bell and Orbia Tucker Millsap. She married Tommie Newt Shelton on November 15, 1955 in Flat, Texas. Peggy was a beloved friend and talented person who loved to cook, sew, paint, crochet, garden, and can her fruit and vegetables. She was preceded in death by her parents; Joe and Orbia Millsap; sister and brother-in-law, JoRene and Jackie Stine; brother and sister-in-law, Richard (Buster) and Letha Shelton; sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Horace (Bun) Hanks; brother-in-law, John Ellis; great-grandsons, Guy Brock and Ryder Brock; and granddaughter-in-law, Tarrie Byrom. Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Tommie Shelton; daughter, Tommie Ruth Shelton; sons, Richard Joe Shelton and wife, Lavinia and Jackie Ray Shelton and wife, Gail; grandchildren, Mike and Amanda Shelton, Michael Joe and Lauren Shelton, Chase Byrom, Kristie Brock, Chad Byrom, Cody Byrom, Kelly and Chad Anderson, and Justin Shelton; great-grandchildren, Camron, Kalie, Shaleigh, Cloie, Adalyn, Coy, Talon, Gentry, Cole, and “Sawyer Newt”; brother, Billy Millsap; sister-in-law, Dixie Miller and husband, Garry; brother-in-law, Dr. Billy Shelton and wife, Denise; a host of nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Jack.
