Peggy Smith

Peggy Smith, age 70 of Gatesville, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Scott’s Funeral Home with Pastor Brandy Spiker officiating. Burial will follow at Gatesville City Cemetery. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Peggy Lynn Smith was born on January 30, 1954 to the late John William and Dorothy Hotz Kelley in DeLeon, Texas. She married Louis Virgil Smith on December 13, 1969 in Glen Rose, Texas and then moved to Gatesville where they made their home. She worked as a nurse’s aid at Canterbury Villa for many years before going to work as a bus driver at Gatesville ISD. Peggy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and absolutely adored all her great grandchildren. She was a spiritual woman who loved the Lord. 

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis Virgil Smith; sisters, Nelly Mae, Dorothy Gregory and Patsy Peirce; brother, Rocky Kelley; and grandson, Bradley Ray Smith. 

She is survived by sons, Dan Smith and John Smith; daughter, Tonya Hoisington and husband, Jerald; brother, William Kelley and wife, Judy; nine grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
