Phyllis Elaine Barnes was born on April 13, 1953, in Austin, to the late Lloyd and Alice Maurine Landis Adams. She grew up in the Pearl community of Coryell County and graduated from Evant High School. She married Monty Barnes in Copperas Cove on July 5, 1983 and he preceded her in death in 2011. She was a civil service employee at Ft. Hood, retiring in 2008. Phyllis enjoyed her time in civil service as data analysis, where she made lifelong friends who she considers family. She loved animals, especially dogs and absolutely adored her fur babies, Sadie, Marly, and Mickey, which kept her company and gave her comfort on her hardest of days. She loved cooking and playing card games with family and listening to gospel and country music. Phyllis loved to watch movies, talk with her friends, traveling and often visit different places and countries. Anyone that knew her would know that the love Phyllis had for her only son Bill, was unmeasurable. Above all, Phyllis was a devout Christian who touched many people with God’s word and her kindness. She will always be remembered for her Christian values, which some say her strength in her faith was inspirational.
Phyllis is survived by her son, Bill Reneau and wife, Crystal of Killeen; sister, Stacy Perez and husband, Ron of Salado; grandchildren, Allyson Reneau, Austin Reneau, Sean Reneau, Christine Kingsley, Alberto Rodriguez, Yalise Echevarria and Zaevion Echevarria; and one great granddaughter, Emilia Maristal Kingsley.
