Reginald Thomas (Reggie), age 64 of Gatesville, passed away on the morning of March 2, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Restland Cemetery.
Reggie was born on September 24, 1956 in Ft. Worth to the late Guy Thomas and Dorothy Lagow. Reggie was lucky enough to meet the love of his life, Gwen, at the early age of 15. He was married to her for 46 years. Reggie was a carpenter by trade and built many structures, but his greatest build was the family he built with Gwen. Reggie loved spending time with family at the lake camping, fishing, boating, playing washer tournaments, and having campfire fun. He enjoyed listening to classic rock and playing pool with family and friends. He taught all the grandchildren how to play pool, throw washers, and shoot bb guns and enjoyed teaching them his trade. Reggie enjoyed wrestling and that was something he shared with all his children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. His most recent past time was spending time with his great grandson, Liam Thomas Friend.
Reggie was a strong believer in Our Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized when he lived in Cleburne. He spoke many times about feeling the Holy Spirit around him and knowing he was forgiven for his sins. He spoke about how sweet it would be one day in Heaven when he could see his parents and loved ones again.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy Thomas and Dorothy Lagow, his brothers, Roy Thomas, Rodney Thomas, Kenneth Thomas, and Stephen Thomas and son-in-law, David Curry.
Reginald is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gwendalyn Thomas; son, Reginald D. Thomas Jr.; daughters, Wendy Friend and Sabrina Regnier and son-in-law John Regnier; granddaughter, Jesse Friend and grandson’s, Korey Johnson, Jacob Bailey, Dylan Johnson, and Ethan Fayas; great grandson, Liam Thomas Friend; his siblings, Mitchell Thomas, Gregory Thomas, Donna Weaver, Timothy Thomas, Darryll Thomas, Jeffery Thomas, and Brian Thomas; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
