Richard B. Vanjoske Sr., age 70, of Gatesville, passed away on March 1, 2019 in Temple, TX. A memorial service will be Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 4:30 pm at the Turnersville Community Center. Richard was born on June 21, 1948 in Aurora, IL to the late Ernest and Normajean Hartle Vanjoske. After high school Richard joined the U.S. Army in 1967. He retired from the Army and went to work at M.A.T.E.S. for several years before joining the team at Featherston Garage. Richard worked at Featherston Garage until they closed their doors. He then spent his last three years working at Gossetts Transmissions. Richard was a mechanic all his life, always working on and fixing things. He loved watching football, NASCAR, and baseball. His partner in crime was Jimmy Bushong of Gatesville. Richard will be loved and missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Viola; and daughter Michelle (Shelly) McLoud. Richard is survived by his daughters, Heather Bovee and husband Mark, Amy Crawford and husband Gerald all of Gatesville; son, Richard Vanjoske Jr. of Orlando, FL; sisters, Veronica Braddish and husband Thom of Corpus Christi, TX, Mary Close of Marseilles, IL, Judith Heath of Seneca, IL, Cathy Larsen and husband Jerry of Marseilles, IL, Carolyn Atkins and husband Steve of San Antonio, TX, and Janice Hibdon of Marion, TX; brothers, Michael Vanjoske and wife Diane of Mesick, MI, Steve Vanjoske and wife Shirley of Newark, IL, Michael Simon and wife Anna of Avinger, TX, Kevin Simon and wife Tess of San Antonio, TX, and Timothy Simon of Charlotte, SC; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
