Robert F. Jordan, age 70, of Purmela, found peace with the Lord and left this world on Thursday, September 6, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. Please join in the remembrance and celebration of Bob’s life at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville.Robert, who was known by all of his friends and family as “Bob”, was born on August 10, 1948 in Fort Worth, Texas to Ellen and Floyd Jordan. Bob grew up in Benbrook, a suburb of Fort Worth, and worked with his father at General Dynamics, but he loved working outdoors. He then started his own successful concrete business and helped build most of the new houses in Benbrook and Fort Worth during the housing boom of the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. Bob moved to Georgia in the early 80’s with his wife and lived there for 23 years until she passed away. He moved back to Texas to be closer to his children and immediate family. It was then that he met Janice Farley-Williford and remarried. They settled down in Purmela, Texas, just outside of Gatesville, and Bob built a beautiful home for them. He was a man’s man, he could do anything from fixing a truck to building a house bottom up by himself. Bob was a pillar in his community and helped all his neighbors when they needed him; his final years were spent doing the things he loved with Janice like gardening, hunting, and piddling in his shed. He was loved dearly and will be greatly missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joyce Shineldecker; and stepfather, John H. Smith.Bob leaves behind his wife, Janice L. Jordan; son, Robert “Jeff” Jeffrey Jordan; daughters, Tina L. Jordan-Belcher and Denise J. Akers-Jordan; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren to continue his legacy. He also leaves behind many, many friends who are too many to list.
