Robert William Gardner, age 74, passed away on March 26th, 2021. Services are scheduled for 10 AM Monday, March 29, 2021 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Turnersville Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 4 to 6 PM, Sunday, March 28, 2021 at the funeral home. Robert was born on February 21, 1947 to Virgil Gardner and Era Mae Weaver Gardner. He grew up in the Turnersville Community on the family farm. Robert attended school in Turnersville and graduated in 1965. He married Vanda Larue Williams on July 2, 1966. Soon after marrying Vanda he joined the Air Force. He was stationed in San Bernardino, California. Following a 4-year stint in the Air Force he moved to Waco in 1971. He worked at International Paper Company and Coca Cola while in Waco before getting a civil service job at Ft. Hood. Prior to his retirement in 2007, he worked in various positions and received several promotions in his 33 years at Ft. Hood. Robert was an exceptional father, husband, Pop, and friend. He farmed and ranched his entire life. He enjoyed his farming buddies, his cows, casino trips, and watching his grandchildren in their various activities. He was preceded in death by his parents and Vanda, wife of 41 years. He is survived by his wife of 7 years, Joy Hester Gardner who he married on May 11, 2013. Other survivors include his daughters Kim Edwards and husband John of Meridian and Jan Brister and husband David of Lampasas and grandchildren William and Abby Edwards, Case and Emily Brister, and Addison and Sutton Young. Memorials may be made to the Turnersville Cemetery Association or St. Jude’s Cancer Research.
