Roberta Ann Bruton

Roberta Ann Bruton, age 81, of Gatesville passed away Saturday, April 3, 2021 in Waco, Texas. Services are scheduled for 5 PM Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Live Oak Baptist Church. The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 PM Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Scott’s Funeral Home. Roberta Ann Bruton was born on October 19, 1939 in Burt Hollow, South Mountain, TX to Leta Ann Collard & Robert Thomas Fisher. She attended school at South Mountain and Flat, Texas. While at Flat, she met the love of her life, Charles C Bruton, when she was just 14 years young. They married on June 24, 1955 in Flat, TX They have since resided in Coryell County. Roberta and Charles C were long time members of Live Oak Baptist Church in Gatesville. Roberta loved flowers and worked as a floral designer. She was very active in the PTA when her children were in school and prided herself on the position she held as State wide PTA President. She is most known for the many positions that she held at Live Oak. Most recently she worked with Charles C in the Sunday school office, after decades of teaching Sunday school. Her family wants everyone to know that she never met a soul that didn’t instantly feel like they were part of her family. She was their Granny also. Roberta’s most prideful position was as the matriarch of her family. She attended as many of her grandchildren’s events as possible and often traveled to spend time with those that lived away. Roberta was most proud of her family and her relationship with our Lord. As a true disciple of Christ, she shared the Lord with all she knew. While her family was so precious to her, she looked forward to the day she would sit at the side of our Lord and Savior, in a new, healed body, reunited with those she loved and lost over her life. Her family wanted to keep her here with them, but on Saturday, April 3, 2021, the Lord decided He wanted her more and called her home. Roberta is survived by her husband of 66 years, Charles C Bruton; her son, Randall Wayne Bruton and his wife, Mary; her daughter, Terri Lynn Baize and her husband Danny; her grandchildren Joi Lyn Wedding and husband Alan, Brittney Star Hamilton and husband Steven, Chelsi Shalane Hall and husband Sam, Jerilynn Amanda Schmidt and husband Ron, Shelby Nicole Fulton and husband Alex, and Tanner Dallas Bruton; her great grandchildren Tyler William Wedding and his fiancé Halle, Jalyn Louise Wedding, James Wayne Hamilton, Harlie Jane Wedding, Nathaniel Wayne Hall, Tahra Faith Fulton, Mason Samuel Hall, Bae Monroe Fulton, Norah Indie Fulton and Ryder Lee Schmidt; her brother Charles Fisher and wife Martha, sister Frances Cuevas, and sister-in-law Elaine Barnett; and numerous nieces and nephews that affectionately knew her as Aunt Bertie. “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint” -Isaiah 40:31
