Ronnie Lee Hunt, age 73 of Gatesville, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Pearl Cemetery, followed by a time of fellowship at the Pearl Community Center.
Ronnie was born July 7, 1945 in Gatesville, to the late Troy Lee and Walcie Spence Hunt. Ronnie was born and raised in what you would call a “Cattle Family”, he naturally started buying and trading cattle at the young age of 16. He later met the love of his life, Brenda Gartman. She worked in the office at the auction barn that his family owned and operated, which still to this day, remains a part of Coryell County’s history. After two years of dating, in December of 1967 pretty close to Christmas, Ronnie suggested they might as well get married since there was no sale that Saturday. The two married on December 22, 1967 in Tomball Texas. They spent the next 52 years together in Coryell County raising three boys, Clay, John, and Jared Hunt. Ronnie’s biggest joys in life were going to a good sale, enjoying a leaded Dr.Pepper, going on any adventure with his boys at the drop of a hat, rocking in his rocking chair feeding the squirrels in Clay-boy’s backyard and chasing his next BIG DREAM. Ronnie was best known for “Buying a few, Selling a few, and Turning a few out”. Ronnie’s legacy that he leaves behind is the impact he made on us all.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Don Hunt.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Brenda Hunt; sons, Clay Hunt and Fred Gibbs, John Hunt and wife, Raygan, Jared Hunt and wife, Kay; brother, Robert J. Hunt and wife, Dorothy; seven grandchildren, Kelby Shults and husband, Scott, Case Jones and wife, Kristen, Kagen Hunt, Haylee Meyers and husband, Tully, Arlie Gates Hunt, Jackson Evetts and Cash Evetts.
Memorials may be made to the Pearl Church of Christ, 6790 FM 183, Gatesville, Texas 76528 or Mound Cowboy Church, P.O. Box 103, Mound, TX 76558.
