Roy Vinson Lee

Roy Lee, age, 82 of Heilbronn, Germany, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 in Temple, Texas.

Graveside services, with military honors, will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Mount Zion Cemetery in Danville, Georgia. 

Roy Vinson Lee was born on August 18, 1941 in Dublin, Georgia to the late Marshall and Rusha McDaniel Lee.  He grew up and attended school in Dublin.  He enlisted in the United States Army in 1959 at the age of 18.   While in the army, he served in the infantry division, artillery division, and various other assignments.   He also served in Vietnam from 1967 until 1968, earning the Bronze Star and numerous other campaign medals.  He honorably served 27 years of active duty, followed by an additional 12 years of civil service as a Military Housing Director in both Italy and Germany. He married Karin Baumann on April 11, 1980 in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and the two ultimately made their home in Heilbronn, Germany.  Roy was an avid fisherman and gardener and enjoyed being in the outdoors.   

Roy was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Karin of 39 years; and brothers, Hoyt Lee, and Marshall Lee.  

He is survived by his daughters, Susanne Baetzold of Germany, and Michelle Martinez of Copperas Cove; sons, Danny Lee of Gatesville, and Sascha Duerrwang of Germany; and their families.
