Ruth Evelyn McGaugh

Ruth Evelyn (Wilson) McGaugh passed away on March 31, 2024, in Gatesville.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, at Scott’s Funeral Home with  Tim Hunter officiating. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 18, at Central Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.

Ruth McGaugh was born on July 26, 1936, in Hobart, Oklahoma to Ernest James Wilson and Maudie Pearl (Stubbs) Wilson. Ruth married Roy Lee McGaugh on May 21, 1954, in Valley View, Texas. Roy preceded her in death on March 12, 2019.

Ruth enjoyed playing basketball in her youth. She also enjoyed wildflowers, road trips and old-time country music. Ruth was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Ruth will be remembered for being loving, kind, generous, friendly, hard-working, helpful, and hospitable. Ruth was a member of Gatesville Church of Christ. She had a deep knowledge of the scriptures and was a lover of God, Christ and the church.

Ruth is survived by her children, Rhonna (Sissy) Carter of Izoro, Texas; Steve McGaugh and wife, Linda of Izoro, Texas; Tim McGaugh and wife, Jana of Sanger, Texas; Roy McGaugh and wife, Sara of Izoro, Texas; Joy McGaugh Puente of Fairhope, Alabama; thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, Ruth requested donations be made to the Sunset International Bible Institute, 3723 34th Street, Lubbock, Texas 79410-2895.
