Samuel D. Meyer, Jr.

Samuel D. Meyer, Jr., age 70, of Gatesville, passed away on July 18, 2021 at his home.

Memorial services with full military honors are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 TX-195, Killeen, Texas.

Samuel was born on July 11, 1951, in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, to the late Samuel D. Meyer, Sr., and Dorothy (Lucas) Meyer.  He graduated from Bald Eagle Nittany High School in 1969 and from Penn State University in 1999.  Samuel married Ellen Snook on April 3, 2000. Samuel was a U.S. Army Veteran, retiring from the Army on June 1, 1994. After retirement, he returned to his hometown to graduate with a degree in Labor Relations from Penn State University.  He enjoyed a second career as a civilian. He and his wife Ellen, then made their home in Temple and eventually moved to Gatesville, where he enjoyed planting fruit trees, growing a garden and raising various farm animals. 

In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Scott Meyer and his loyal fur baby Beau.

Samuel is survived by his wife, Ellen Meyer; mother, Dorothy Meyer; three sisters, Sandra Workman and husband, David of Bellefonte, Jo Ann Williams and husband, David of Loganton, Susan Dotterer and husband, John of Mill Hall; two brothers, Steven Meyer and wife, Brenda, Tim Meyer and wife, Tammy; many nieces and nephews; and his fur babies, Sophia and Bug.
