Sandra Sue Adams Brookshire, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, with her family around her.  A celebration of her life will be held at the family place at a later date.  Sandra Sue was born on February 7, 1934 in Coryell County to H.C. (Porter) Adams and Dorthy Ellen (T.T.) Miller Adams. She graduated from Gatesville High School where she was a majorette and met the love of her life, H.P. Brookshire, Jr.  Sandra, or Sue Sue, as her grandkids called her, was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Sandra was a stay-at-home mom, raising her children and taking care of their home. She was also a librarian at Gatesville Elementary for many years.  Sandra loved working in the yard, decorating their home and day trips with friends. She was fond of bird watching and enjoyed the wildlife to be found on the place. She also enjoyed the beach and shell collecting. Sandra was a graceful swimmer and enjoyed the water. She was an avid reader who kept up with world events.  Later in life, she became a dedicated San Antonio Spurs fan, watching every game she could.  Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Patti Smith, and sister, Pamela Jean Brasher. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, H.P. Brookshire; two daughters, Joy Brookshire, Gay Comer and husband Monte; one son, Joe Brookshire and wife Culli; five grandchildren, Jeff Smith (Machaela), Misty Smith (Patrick), Alan Comer (Amy), Amanda Brookshire, T.C. Brookshire (Ashlee); eleven great-grandchildren, Rachel, Jaden, Kyson, Memory, Madalyn, Piper, Trevor, Teagan, Maddi, Lane and Colt.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Preceptor Delta XI Patti Smith Scholarship fund, Kathy Crawford, 118 Gates Drive, Gatesville, Texas 76528, or the charity of one’s choice.
