Virgie May (Soules) Sheldon, age 92, of Evant passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Cornerstone Gardens in Temple. Graveside services will be at Hurst Ranch Cemetery, 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2018. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel. Virgie was born May 3, 1926, in Star, TX to the late Jim and Maggie Boykin Soules. She was one of 11 children. Virgie graduated from Star High School as valedictorian. She went on to marry Weldon Sheldon in August 1944 in Ft. Worth. They spent 69 years together before Weldon passed in April 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, five sisters and her in-laws Chester and Beatrice Sheldon. Virgie is survived by three daughters, Charlotte Looney and husband Robert of Evant, Sue Turner of Bastrop, and Beverly Rodgers of Converse; sister Lottie Morris of Mesquite; grandsons, Sheldon Bennight and wife Jessica of Houston, Jason Rodgers of Converse; granddaughters, Shelley Barrett of Stephenville, Melissa Ronacher and husband Kurt of Lafayette, Colorado; great-grandchildren, Gracie and Jett Barrett, Micah Rodgers, Jackson Bennight and Kaylin and McKenzie Ronacher; sisters-in-law, Letha Sheldon of Evant and Nellie Sheldon of Gatesville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
