Wanda Massingill

Wanda Massingill, age 96 of Gatesville, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at Scott’s Funeral Home, with Minister Deral McWhorter officiating.  The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 12^th at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Turnersville Cemetery. 

Wanda Lee Massingill was born on December 8, 1926 in Tuxedo, Texas to the late Dennis and Ellie Necessary Featherston. She grew up and went to school in Arnett and Gatesville. She married Meredith Ray Massingill on June 2, 1954 and they resided in the Turnersville community.  She was an L.V.N. and worked at Goodall-Witcher Hospital in Clifton for over 20 years.  She was a member of Cedar Ridge Church of Christ. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray Massingill; sister, Reva Rasco; brothers, Willis Featherston, Rayburn Featherston, Moye Featherston, J.D. Featherston; sons-in-law, Nelson Starr and Greg Woodson and a grandson-in-law, Chuck Haferkamp.

Wanda is survived by her children, Wynona Talbert of Clifton, Donna Starr of Royce City, Gary Massingill and wife, Karen of Turnersville, Lynn Erwin and husband, Randy of Gatesville, Kay Woodson of Temple; sisters, Reda Massingill of Farmers Branch, Mary Beth Truett of Mesquite; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
