Wayne Roland Goodwin

Wayne Roland Goodwin, age 78 of Taylor, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024.

Funeral services for the immediate family will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

Wayne was born on January 31,1946, to Raymond and Clara Goodwin. He grew up in Moody, Texas and graduated from Moody High School. Shortly after graduating, he enlisted in the Air Force. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving from August 1964 to August 1968. 

His first career started at Dubois Furniture in Waco, Texas but soon after he became a Farm Bureau insurance agent. After two years as an agent, he advanced to agency manager. He retired after 20 years and started his own agency in 1995, GSM Insurors. 

Wayne was a thirty two year member of the Rotary Club and served 12 years on the Johns Community Hospital Foundation Board. Wayne loved life and didn’t know a stranger. He always had a big smile and a twinkle in his eyes. He enjoyed traveling, woodworking, fishing and garage sales. He was a loving and supportive dad to Shelly and Robin. He cherished his time being Pappy to his grandkids Brayden, Hannah, and Kayla. 

He is preceded in death by his father, mother, and older brother, Kenneth Goodwin. He is survived by his daughter, Shelly Alsobrook, and husband, Kyle; daughter, Robin Adair, and husband, Kelly; and three grandchildren, Brayden Adair, Hannah Alsobrook, and Kayla Alsobrook. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity benefiting disabled veterans.
