William W. Coalston age 65 of the Mound community, passed away surrounded by his family at his home on Thursday, May 4, 2023.
Celebration of life services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Bruce Cox and Rev. Wray Nunn officiating.
William Wayne Coalston was born on December 27, 1957 in Gatesville, to the late George William Coalston and Bessie Gober. He held many titles throughout his life, but his proudest was being called Daddy to his two daughters, Amber and Shannon. Both were certainly “daddy’s girls.” William worked for over 20 years for Young Brothers Construction all over the state, before working for the City of Gatesville as the Street Superintendent. After his retirement, he opened his auto detail shop until his stroke four years ago. William took pride in the fine details of his yard work and anything he did, and perfection was his middle name. Over the years, William played numerous roles volunteering in the community, from being fire chief for Mound V.F.D. to being Santa Claus for his grandson’s school at Oglesby I.S.D. and Gatesville Chamber of Commerce. Those were his pride and joy days. He was always the first to raise his hand when those opportunities arose. He loved seeing the smiles on children’s faces, especially with his Christmas displays each year or the elderly when delivering trees each Christmas. William was known for holding the best BBQs, camping, sitting on his porch and waving at everyone that drove by, and spending time with his family. He was a member of White Mound Baptist Church.
William is survived by his daughters, Amber Tippit and husband, Cody, Shannon Maldonado and husband, Zander; grandson, Jakson Tippit and granddaughters, Jessica Hartmann and husband, Ryan, Destinee Kellerman and husband, Chris; great-granddaughters Raizlynn, Mikinley, Ryleigh, and Lily; great grandson, Kentley; brothers, Robert Smith, George Coalston, Gary Coalston, Ronnie Coalston, James Coalston; sisters, Lois Burkett, Glenda Coalston and Brenda Lovell and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a special niece and nephew, that was like his daughter and son, Clark and Christi Acree with their children Ethan, Emily, and Nate and lifelong sisters, Lisa Burgan and Helen Watson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oglesby I.S.D. Athletics Department, 125 College Street, Oglesby, Texas 76561.
